Day 2 Mental Health Challenge

Listen in

So much of the time we can be so busy with our lives that we fail to pay attention to the warning signs of the mind, body and heart.

We can gradually become more vulnerable to injury, drained, less resilient and able to deal with life’s challenges, less energetic and creative.

Little by little our mental, emotional and physical health can suffer if we don’t give ourselves the time to listen in and ask ourselves how we are doing and what we need in this moment. Often, we also have the answers within, we just need to pay attention.

Recently, when I took the time to listen in I discovered a heaviness and constriction in the heart which (with more gentle inner inquiry) I realised was the feeling of overwhelm. I took some deep breaths with my hand on my heart, self-compassion is a huge part of the practice, and asked myself what I needed. Not what “should” I do about this, but what “can” I do about this. I then asked for the help I needed and took the rest (thanks Imogen for your Yoga Nidra) my mind and body craved.

If you’ve found yourself craving rest, your mind and body are telling you to recharge.

If you find yourself longing for serenity and comfort, your mind and body are telling you they’re overstimulated and undernourished.

Your higher self, body, heart and mind have your highest interests front and centre – for you to live life to your fullest potential to thrive, not merely to survive. And to do that you need to release tension, restore as well as actively engage in activities that light you up.

Don’t forget our nourishing Yoga Nidra practice on Sunday’s 4 – 5pm (and on demand in the online library for members)

Today’s practices are:

Listen in to the heart and body, flow through Surya Namaskar A and B, pause in mountain to feel the effects of your practice.
For kids and teens, we check in with how we are feeling, move the body through 2 rounds of sun salutations to energise mind and body and finish with a short ...

Listening in to the body, mind and heart. Hold what you find with kindness and compassion.
This energising practice will lead you to flow into stillness, to listen in and honour your mind, body and heart.
